In late 2023 and early 2024, a bipartisan group of senators attempted to pass a bill to curb the number of illegal crossings on the southern border.

One of the authors of the "Emergency National Security Supplemental Appropriations Act," Sen. James Lankford, a Republican from Oklahoma, called it "the most conservative border security bill in four decades."

But Donald Trump, Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) and Speaker Mike Johnson and other MAGA Republicans didn't want Democrats to be able to "Run On" the "Border Bill.

"As the author of the bill, I didn't write it to give Democrats something to run on. I wanted to pass it and secure the border," Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Connecticut) said in response to Perry's comments. "But at least Republicans are saying the truth out loud. They knew the bill would secure the border — so they killed it to help them politically.

And so they did.

And now Donald Trump uses the Border Crisis to attack his Presidential Rival Kamala Harris every chance he gets.

And Harris responds that if she if elected she will sign it.
