Why Do You Doubt ?
Manage episode 451732682 series 3553162
In this thought-provoking episode, we explore the complex and deeply human experience of doubt. From moments of uncertainty about personal choices to questioning deeply-held beliefs, doubt often strikes during pivotal times in our lives. But why do we doubt? Is it a sign of weakness, or could it be a catalyst for growth and greater understanding?
In Why Do You Doubt?, we'll look at powerful examples of doubt in the Bible, where even some of the most faithful encountered moments of uncertainty and hesitation.
- Thomas the Apostle (John 20:24-29): Known as "Doubting Thomas," he needed to see and touch the wounds of Jesus before he would believe in the resurrection. This story reflects how, even when faced with others’ testimonies of faith, we may still seek personal assurance.
- Peter Walking on Water (Matthew 14:28-31): Peter boldly stepped out of the boat, walking toward Jesus on the water. But as he looked at the waves and began to fear, he started sinking. He took his face off Jesus Christ. Jesus asked him, "Why did you doubt?" showing how fear can cloud our trust in God.
- Gideon’s Signs (Judges 6:36-40): Gideon repeatedly asked God for signs to confirm His promise of victory over the Midianites. Through Gideon’s doubts, we see that God is patient, providing reassurance even when our faith wavers.
- Sarah’s Laughter (Genesis 18:10-15): When God promised Sarah a son despite her old age, she laughed in disbelief. Her doubt seemed natural, given the circumstances, yet God fulfilled His promise, showing that nothing is impossible for Him.
- Moses at the Burning Bush (Exodus 3:10-12): Called by God to lead Israel out of Egypt, Moses expressed doubts about his ability, questioning, "Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh?" Despite Moses’ uncertainty, God equipped him for the task, affirming His power in the face of human limitation.
In this episode, we’ll discuss these stories and how they reveal God’s compassion toward our struggles with doubt, encouraging us to find hope and strength in Him.
Whether it's overcoming doubt in relationships, work, or faith, this episode aims to show listeners that doubt, when embraced, can be a powerful stepping stone on the path to clarity and destiny Fulfilment.
