padsessions 011 | Quick Thoughts On "Professional Fashion" | Gino Pronos x Damian Tabor

Was a little caught off guard with this one. Got a call from Damian asking me to share my thoughts on dressing "professionally" and how it might affect my real estate biz.
I used to rebel against dressing up just to appease potential clients.
I eventually realized that, as a client service pro, I should always be representing my client's best interest and not my own. When I dress up I am projecting that I am someone who takes his business very seriously and it means a lot to me. If it means a lot to me then the sale of that given house means a lot to me and if the sale of that house means a lot to me then it means a lot to the seller and if it means a lot to the seller then it's more likely to mean a lot to the potential buyer.
Does dressing up make me a "better" Realtor? No. Does it give me some insider knowledge that wasn't there before? No. Will it allow me to provide a hight level of service? Well, maybe.
Something so simple like putting on a suit when I could have put on jeans could cascade down and actually influence a sale. And even if it doesn't, it allows me to believe that it is, which in turn makes me more confident in my activities and if I'm more confident then I may provide better information or have an edge when negotiating a deal (which allows me to represent my client's best interest even better).
All because I put on a tie.
P.S. Even if all of this is bs and how you dress doesn't affect your business in anyway...the worst thing that is going to happen is you're going to look fly. I weep for you.
