A new college football season is on the horizon and the hosts of Sharpen the Point, a college football gambling and daily fantasy sports podcast on the Everything Noles podcast channel are getting you ready for the year ahead.

Over the next four weeks, Brian Pellerin and Chris Tyndall will preview the group of five and each conference’s College Football Playoff contenders — of course with a Florida State lens in mind.

This season with expanded playoffs and conference realignment, we get an even better chance to look at teams coast to coast because anybody and everybody has the potentially to matter as an FSU opponent, fellow CFP contender or even CFP opponent. It’s a lot to keep track of, but we’re helping consolidate it all in one place for you.

Last time out, on our Group of 5 preview, the crew looked at the handful of teams that are vying for the G5 bid to the playoffs, including Florida State’s Sept. 14 non-conference opponent — the Memphis Tigers.

On today’s preview of the Big 12, they broke down the 10(!!) schools that have a realistic shot at claiming this ultra-competitive conference. Where does Deion Sanders and Colorado fall in that group? What about UCF’s CFP potential? Or could another recent addition to the conference stand head and shoulders above the rest?

The previews continue next week with a look at the SEC before moving on to the Big Ten and then the ACC as well as Florida State’s Week Zero opener in Ireland.
