“Life’s a beach,” the saying goes. And for Holly Daniels Christensen, it certainly is. Originally from Cape Cod, Christensen spent her summers after high school learning to surf at Marconi Beach in Wellfleet, Massachusetts. Although her surfing skills never did amount to much, those days of skipping work and heading to the beach would impact her life in a big way. In 2007 she began making beach sand jewelry for friends and family along with her childhood friend Kellie Quinn. The response was so great; she took the leap, gave up an established real estate career in Boston and launched Dune Jewelry full time in 2010. The self-taught jewelry designer’s company has become so successful that she made the move from fashioning the items on her kitchen table to working with a staff of eighteen in a 1,500 square-foot space in an old mill building in Dedham, MA. She now fills orders for over 600 retailers throughout the world and is proud to give back to nature by donating to several coastal preservation programs. visit dunejewelry.com
