This is the third episode on my journey to bring our son into the world. See the previous episodes on “conscious conception” and “the emotional work of pregnancy” for a full context. In this episode, I share about my unassisted birth experience with my third baby and our first son. The birth itself is quite straight forward. I woke up at 1 am with sensations, rested in my room for a few hours, had a bath, vomited a little, was standing for the sensations as they became stronger went to the bathroom and birthed my baby standing at the countertop…and through all that my dear partner Vitaly calmly witnessed me and held space. When the baby’s head came out, the eyes were open and I remember Vitaly saying “wow, it’s looking at me!”. Vitaly caught him. Placenta was born soon after and we transitioned to the bed for a long golden hour that lasted really two. Our daughters woke up with baby’s emergence and joined us for that magical moment. It was perfect. Just the way it was meant to be for all of us in the family considering our circumstances and that point in time. And yet, there are elements I would change for next time. There is also so much happening behind the scenes. Listen in to see what that would be. In this episode I share about: - the last weeks leading up to the birth - Choosing to birth in water vs on land - Choosing to Freebirth vs having a tba or doula present - Choosing which family members to be present at the birth, including my children (it all happened serendipitously) - Shamanic journeying in birth (this includes some darkness and confronting the fear of the world) - The first hours after baby’s arrival Upcoming episodes include - q&a with my partner Vitaly about the births and postpartum experiences of our children. - Review of my first year postpartum after this baby - Discussion on our choices for our children’s education Support the podcast with a donation here 👇 www.emiliealexina.com/supportmywork Get the Complete Guide to Freebirth by Freebirth Society here 👇 https://www.freebirthsocietycourses.com/a/24099/8A6GBoo6 Let’s connect: Instagram @emiliealexina Website - emiliealexina.com Facebook page - Emilie Alexina Email - emiliealexina@gmail.com
