Welcome to the Elevate Up Podcast and a deep-dive episode in our "EVERYDAY HEROES" series with your Host, your Coach, and "The Sherpa" Steve Seay!

A motorcycle ride, and a dead battery - that is what sparked a longer conversation between Coach Steve and Juan Perez in California when they met.

Juan is a San Francisco native who continues residing in the Bay Area.
He's married to his high school sweetheart, and they have two wonderful children, ages 9 & 7. Juan, a police detective, fulfills multiple roles within his department, including field training officer, crisis negotiator, peer support counselor, and trainer in 'Principled Policing'. His dedication extends beyond his official duties as he is deeply engaged with the local community, fostering relationships with the individuals he serves.

Coach Steve believes wholeheartedly that Juan is at the top of the list for growth and curiosity!

LISTEN FOR THIS MOMENT: "Those of us in my generation, when 9/11 happened - they all knew where they were, right? So, 9/11 was a very pivotal moment for me and my life - not because in that moment I was like I know I want to join law enforcement - no, not at all. But it was a moment where I started looking at the human side of what happened. For me, I was thinking about me. It was more of a self-reflection moment, and I was thinking of all of the people that perished in those planes - people from all walks of life. It was just a reflection moment for me where I asked myself 'if I were to die today - this moment - like how would people remember me?'."
