Celebrating July 4th, in many ways, has become reflexive. A day reserved for celebrating the birth of the United States is mostly observed with cookouts and beach days. As this country continues to go through racial tensions, mass shootings, and political turmoil, is it appropriate to rethink the levels of our freedom? The land we live on was stolen once upon a time, and our flawed Founding Fathers created the country we know today. While it is great to understand the uncomfortable truths around the birth of this country, it's still a country worth celebrating and embracing.
