YOU CREATE YOUR OWN REALITY
One of my favorite quotes is, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” When I meet with clients, I often hear, “He made me so mad.” What most people don’t realize is that no one can make you angry unless you allow it. It’s not what happens to you; it’s how you respond to it.
Take road rage, for example. Someone cuts you off, and you get furious. Most people believe it’s the other driver’s fault, but if you think about it, it’s actually how you respond to it. The other driver doesn’t care that you’re upset; in fact, they may even get some perverse pleasure out of it.
I once worked with an Alpha male who told me how enraged he gets with other drivers. I said, “You’re an Alpha. Why would you allow others to control you and make you angry?” He later told me this really helped him because it changed his perception, and he realized he had ultimate control over his life.
Even Jesus, as he was being crucified, said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”
