For many travelers, Antarctica is a bucket-list destination, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to touch all seven continents. In 2023, a record-breaking 100,000 tourists made the trip. But the journey begs a fundamental question: What do we risk by traveling to a place that is supposed to be uninhabited by humans? And as the climate warms, should we really be going to Antarctica in the first place? SHOW NOTES: Kara Weller: The Impossible Dilemma of a Polar Guide Marilyn Raphael: A twenty-first century structural change in Antarctica’s sea ice system Karl Watson: First Time in Antarctica Jeb Brooks : 7 Days in Antarctica (Journey to the South Pole) Metallica - Freeze 'Em All: Live in Antarctica Learn about your ad choices: dovetail.prx.org/ad-choices…

So… I’m 25. Here’s my birthday gift to me 🎁… My family, girlfriend, friends, and team asked me what I wanted on my birthday… I responded… “I want to produce an insane amount of work and I want your support to allow me to do it unapologetically”... I wanted a day of insane amount of execution and a start of something beautiful… The Clever Programmer Podcast 🚀. This is something I’ve wanted to produce for a long time and I thought what better day than today July 14th, my birthday, to grind... Work hard… And produce insane amount of content. I’ve been working non-stop since 10 am with my entire team and we’ve been working on creating the best show for developers in the world. That is both genuinely entertaining and educational… At least we hope it’s educational 😂. Just in our first podcast we talk about the following things… What’s in this first podcast… - Girlfriends & Ex-girlfriends - Talk about Brainfuck & Whitespace programming languages - Why developers don’t get girls - How do you get clients - Talk about the 6 most important git commands you need to know to win - What’s the difference between git and GitHub? (The thing no one can explain properly on the planet… We at least took a shot at it 😂) - How to solve your girl problems - How to build relationships and land programming jobs & clients - Talk about a freelance developer that travels the world at $2,000/month and enjoys his life and how you can too - Why most parent’s unrealistic expectations completely destroy most developer’s dreams - Parent’s found out that my girlfriend was white and why they freaked out - How developers create a deep level of intensity and focus in their life We hope that this show brings you as much joy as it brought me creating it and that it brings you even more value. This has been my passion project and the best gift you can give me is you just watching it, enjoying it, and getting massive amounts of value from this new show... The Clever Programmer Podcast 🔥. Thank you for allowing this opportunity. I appreciate each and every single one of you. -Qazi…
I was doing a live q&a and viewers sent in their voice messages. Lots of freelance developers wanted to know how they could increase their monthly income.
Would you rather make $10,000 for 160 hours of work or make $4,000 for 20 hours? 🤔 You don't need a lot of experience 👨💻. You need 1.5 months of coding experience and you gotta be good enough to hire other good enough developers 👪. You work on your soft skills. Go on platforms like Upwork or Craigslist to make ads so you can land a client. Then you find and hire your developers from Upwork as well. After you get the client and the developers... All you need to do is manage your developers and they do the work. This way, yes, you are giving up the total revenue upside but you are insanely increasing your dollars per hour. Now, let's get back to our original question... Would you rather make $10,000 for 160 hours of work or make $4,000 for 20 hours? The correct answer is $4,000 for 20 hours. Why? Well, if you do the math... In the first case your hourly rate would be $62/hr while in the 2nd case your hourly rate would be $200/hr 📈. If you want true freedom... You need to massively leverage your time and increase your hourly income 📊. You could just do 160 hours a month of your time to keep ALL of the $10,000 revenue in your pocket. OR, you can give $6,000 to your developers and keep $4,000 profit 💰. Now, instead of YOU doing 160 hours of work, you just have to do 20 hours of work per month holding meetings with your developers and the client to manage the project, expectations, and keeping everyone happy. I was doing this when I was 21 and going to UIC college in Chicago. This gave me massive leverage and that's how I was able to scale my income to $104,000/year as a college student. -Qazi…
