An extreme "danger to life" status red warning has been issued for Clare, as the country prepares for what's been dubbed as one of the worst storms witnessed here in years. Storm Éowyn is due to make landfall in the early hours of Friday morning and Met Éireann is warning that gusts are likely to exceed 130 kilometres per hour in this county, as well as in Cork and Kerry. This will lead to extremely dangerous travelling conditions, wave overtopping, coastal flooding, fallen trees, widespread power outages and structural damage. The red alert comes into force between 3am and 10am on Friday, after which it will be downgraded to a status orange warning until 5 o'clock on Friday evening. Tullycrine-based Met Éireann Forecaster, Michelle Dillon has been telling Clare FM's Seán Lyons she'd "highly advise" those living along the West Coast to move inland if at all possible.
