Nick and I sat down recently to talk about his work across the African Diaspora, his community, and the elders that fostered his growth along the way. Take a listen to our musings and see below how to support the necessary work Nick is doing in Boston Massachusetts and beyond.
About Nick:
Nicholas (He, His, Him) was born and raised in Philadelphia PA, with roots in the Caribbean and the deep South. His experiences with inequality in the city in conjunction with the wisdom of his elders and peers instilled a spirit of service and appreciation for human diversity. He works as an anti-racism facilitator, trainer, and program developer and is invested in assisting marginalized groups to develop alternative means of self-determination and build solidarity with other racialized communities. He has a background in community organizing and how it correlates with building social and political capital. He earned his undergraduate from the Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania where he majored in International Studies & Human Communications with a minor in Ethnic Studies, his master’s degree in Global Studies & International Relations from Northeastern University, and is currently pursuing a doctorate in Global Inclusion & Social Development at Umass Boston. He is also the founder of Culturally Rooted Reformations LLC, Co-owner of Shea La Bell scented shea butter, and executive director of the Pull as You Climb Collective. Organizations. Nick also participates in the Grassroots International Donor Engagement group for organizing money for the land rights for community-based organizations in Palestine.
