Kia ora, Talofa, Ma’lelei, Bula and Welcome to Season 08 Episode 80 of Breakfast Bites, by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika people’s sports news, on a sunny and bright Thursday morning 28 March 2024.
Coming to you with tons of hanisi from the 180th meridian in the middle of the Blue Continent.
In rugby: So Fiji Rugby Union interim Chairman Peter Mazey is tipped to announce the new Head Coach of the Flying Fijians today.
Our guess is, that it will be Fijian Drua boss, Mick Byrne with Senirusi Seruvakula as his Assistant.
Who do you think it should be?
· Senirusi Seruvakula
· Mick Byrne
· Jon Apted
In football: Jude Bellingham scored at the death to restore English pride yesterday to claim a 2-2 draw after Aston Vila star Youri Tielemans struck twice for Belgium in their final warm up game before squads are announced for Euro 2024 in Germany in June.
Meanwhile, Georgia qualified for Euro 2024 on Tuesday, winning their play-off against Greece 2-4 on penalties after a 0-0 draw at the end of extra time to advance to their first ever major tournament finals.
In boxing: Aussie champ, Tim Tszyu couldn’t help but laugh at Sebastian ‘The Towering Inferno’ Fundora’s camp claiming the American will knock him out, and declared there’s “no need” for a rematch clause to be in place.
Tszyu insists the rematch clause was not bothering him one bit: “Honestly, there’s no need for a rematch clause because he’s getting KO’d.”
In SportsBiz: Over 683,500 people attended men’s and women’s NCAA tournament games during the first and second rounds of March Madness in the US. Here’s the breakdown:
· A record 292,456 fans showed up for women’s games at campuses of top-seeded teams. That’s about 60,000 more than last year’s record number.
· Men’s games drew 391,073 attendees across eight neutral sites, with seven arenas drawing crowds of 95% capacity or higher.
In rugby league: Our world famous tips for the NRL Round 4 games this Easter weekend: Tonight Roosters to panadol the Panthers at Allianz Stadium.
On Friday, the Rabbitohs to roti&curry the Bulldogs at Accor Stadium and the Broncos to blanko Cowboys at Suncorp Stadium
On Saturday, the Dragons to drago Manly at WIN Stadium and the Dolphins to tribeca the Titans at their Cbus Super Stadium.
On Sunday the NZ Warriors to kiss the Knights on the Mount in Auckland and the Sharks to sambuca Raiders at PointsBet Stadium.
Finally on Easter Monday at 4pm, the Eels to benjibanjobongo Wests Tigers at CommBank Stadium.
And that’s a wrap!
