With few exceptions, most entrepreneurs (myself included) hate the money management side of their businesses. Business finances are confusing and stressful, and especially for creatives, it can feel like focusing on that side of things pulls your attention away from the parts of your business you really love.

But, news flash: If you don’t focus on your business finances, you’re probably going to be forced to do so at some point. And that ain’t gonna be pretty.

In this episode of the Bold Women in Business podcast, we’re talking to Gina Knox, a money coach who makes business finances a whole lot less scary for entrepreneurs. This episode is chock full of super helpful information, so grab a notebook and pen because you’re gonna want to write some of this down.

Key takeaways:

  • Just because inconsistent income is expected with entrepreneurship doesn’t mean you have to live with uncertainty and inconsistency. There are ways around that.
  • Setting arbitrary savings goals can lead to unnecessary pressure that will bite you in the butt. Instead, focus on small, realistic goals that match your needs.
  • You don’t need to build a million dollar business. In fact, it might not even be a good idea.
  • Debt is a common practice in business that should not be stigmatized. There’s a big difference between high ROI debt and low ROI debt.
