Filmmaker David Allensworth discusses making his first feature film “Soul to Keep”, as well as how he secured distribution. David is a writer/director/producer in both scripted and unscripted content. David utilizes his strength in story development, production resources, and connections to financing to establish his company, Shady Tree Films, as an emerging leader in independent scripted and unscripted production. Through the shingle, he directed, co-wrote, produced, and secured financing for the feature horror/thriller, "Soul To Keep." Additionally, he wrote, produced, and directed the multi-award-winning short thriller "Hope's Portal" which splits the screen 3-ways, and secured and produced the multi-award winning short, "Alienated" starring Vincent Pastore (The Sopranos). With his writing partner David Wagner (Van Wilder, The Girl Next Door), he is in active development on several feature comedies, dramas, and TV series. Previously, he supervised production, and created/developed programming for 3 High Definition channels for Rainbow Media. He was also Executive in Charge of Production for several years for VH1. In those roles, he was responsible for dozens of pilots, specials, and series in the broad spectrum of reality, documentary, game show, and magazine formats. David is well-trained as a screenwriter and is a graduate of both the Professional Screenwriting Program at UCLA, and Film & Television from Cal State Northridge in Los Angeles. He is a Producer's Council member of the Producers Guild of America.
