This tour of Fells Point Historic Trail is created by The Baltimore National Heritage Area (BNHA), which promotes, preserves, and enhances Baltimore's historic and cultural legacy and natural resources for current and future generations. A walking tour of this and other destinations is available at www.explorebaltimore.org/tours. Located at 700 S. Ann Street Across the street on your left stands St. Stanisław Roman Catholic Church. Though now it is clearly no longer in use for religious purposes, this church was essential to the fiber of Baltimore's immigrant community. Polish immigrants who came to America were often forced to take some of the lowest paying jobs, but they donated generously to build this church, which became the first church specifically established for people of Polish origin. St. Stanislaus Church served as the headquarters for several maritime labor unions who had employees of all races and ethnicities, and was an organizing point for workers striking to protest unfair wages and conditions.
