Kevin Maloney, Tackling Leukaemia – All Politics Is Local With Carina Garland MP
Manage episode 430767482 series 3587166
During this episode, Carina speaks with Kevin Maloney from the charity Tackling Leukaemia. Kevin is a Wheelers Hill local, and he has an inspirational story of mateship, the tragedy of leukaemia, community sport, and the power of grassroots organising to make a difference.
Tackling Leukaemia is a registered charity that aims to increase the level of donation of stem cells from members of the Pasifika and Australian Indigenous communities on the Australian Bone Marrow Donor Registry. Members of the Pasifika and Australian Indigenous communities often have rare blood types, and stem cells from non-Pasifika and non-Indigenous donors are not usually a suitable match. By boosting the number of Pasifika and Australian Indigenous donors, Tackling Leukaemia is saving lives.
You can register to become a bone marrow donor here: https://strengthtogive.org.au/friendsandfam/
