About Our Guest: CO-Pastor Gay Michelle Chisum

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she relocated to Chicago after receiving her Associate Degree at Allegheny Community College in Nursing. She attended Loyola University and National Lewis University and received a bachelor’s degree in Applied Behavioral Science. As a registered nurse she has worked in the areas of Medical-Surgical, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, and Substance Abuse. She founded Perinatal Addiction Consultants, taught health care professionals throughout the United States about Perinatal Addiction for twelve years, and served as a Perinatal Addiction consultant to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.

In 1989 she was ordained as an Elder and served on the Elder Board of Life Center Church under Pastor T. L. Barrett Jr. In 1992 her husband, Pastor St. John Chisum founded Gifts from God Ministry Church where she served on the Official Church Board. In 1999 Elder Gay was elevated to Co-Pastor Gay M. Chisum. She has been exercising her gifts through preaching and teaching messages for the children, teens, women and directing Health Ministries.

Co-Pastor Gay has worked as an Asthma Educator for the Respiratory Health Association, University of Illinois, St. Bernard Hospital, Chicago Asthma Consortium, and the University of Chicago. She retired in 2017 but she spent ten years pursuing a passion to teach families how to control asthma and prevent fatal episodes.

Co-Pastor Gay was the Co-Director of the 2018 One Summer Chicago Youth project, where the youth created the Gifts From God Ministry Peace Wall entitled “A Vision of Peace in Englewood”. At present, Co-Pastor Gay continues to serve Englewood through organizing an annual coat giveaway with the HOST foundation, distribution of fresh vegetables with Just Roots and works in partnership with William Blair Investment Company staff as Englewood Director of the Adopt A Family Program.

Co-Pastor Gay is Heart and Soul of the Gifts From God Ministry “Hope and Help Center.” Co-Pastor Gay Chisum is Loved by her husband, daughters, family, and members.
