In this episode, Hakim discusses ego and the way in which it impacts leadership. He highlights what ego is, where it comes from, how to identify and manage it and its effect on how we lead ourselves and others. Hakim shares some personal stories about his own experience managing his own ego and working in an industry and at institutions that create professionals with some of the biggest egos out there. In this episode, he challenges you to explore how your own ego has been created and what its impact has been on your own life and career. Are you living in an “Ego Hell” that you’ve possibly created for yourself? Do you lead and live your life from an “outside in” perspective or “inside out” view of what you create in the world? How can you manage the egos you encounter at work? How does self-awareness play into managing one’s ego? Is ego all that bad when it comes to leadership? Asking and answering these questions of yourself is an effective way, through compassion and from a place of innocence, to create greater awareness of where your ego may be running the show. You don’t have to be what the world expects you to be…you get to define how you choose to lead. More to come about this topic in future episodes. Stay tuned!
