“Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and the money given to the poor?" Jesus said, "Leave her alone. She bought it so that she might keep it for the day of my burial.” -John 12: 5 & 7

Jesus lived his life in service. As a result of that service, he was on the verge of being arrested, tried, tortured, and executed. He knew had days to live - not months or weeks, but days.

Mary was one of Jesus’s closest friends and a faithful follower. She knew the weight that he carried and the stress he was under. Jesus cared for many. In this moment she decided to care for Jesus.

A day laborer would have to work 300 days to pay for the perfume she used on Jesus. Mary wiped Jesus’s feet with her hair. She was very extravagant in the love and care she gave Jesus.

The extravagant care Mary gave Jesus helped prepare him for the extraordinary service he was about to perform.

I’m Horace McMillon. This is 60 Seconds of Hope. Peace be with you.
