The penultimate moment in the movie Kill Bill volume one comes when Uma Thurman’s bride character is about to confront the villain played by Lucy Liu only to discover she was going to have to fight through Liu’s private army first.
Liu: “You didn’t really think it was going to be that easy did you?”
Uma: “Yeah. For a minute there I kind of did.”
For minute there, we thought the battle was over and our victory secure. We thought history only moved in one direction and that positive change was inevitable.
That’s not the way it works.That’s not the way it ever works.
So take a deep breath. Wipe the tears from your eyes and the sweat from your brows. Get back in the battle and keep fighting.
