Beating Anxiousness with Clarity, Gratitude, and Trust (Part 2)
Manage episode 408601809 series 3545165
In part one we discussed how debilitating an amorphous sense of angst can be. It’s as if there is a monster lurking in our closet waiting to pounce on us.
The first step to dealing with the monster in the closet is to open the door. Make a list. Get specific about the scale and the scope of the problem, the resources you have to address it and the actions you can take. Turning on the lights and opening the door robs the monster of its power.
We must acknowledge and name the areas where we still need help. This is what is meant by the phrase “ in every situation by prayer and petition.
Doing an assessment and making a plan- even if the plan is not sufficient- gives us back our power. There’s a peace that comes with knowing that you are doing all you can.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
