Danni Washington makes the deep dive on marine protection and conservation with fellow mermaid, Mariasole Bianco. Mariasole coordinates the Young Professionals network of the IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas, hosts a TV show in Italy about ocean wonders and issues, works with private sector on ocean responsibility, teaches at the University of Genoa, and is the founder and president of Worldrise, an Italian non-profit organisation focused on marine conservation and young professional empowerment. In June 2020 she published "Pianeta Oceano," her first book that describes the wonders of the ocean, the problems that afflict it, and the solutions that can be adopted to safeguard it. In this episode, Mariasole dives deep on her upbringing on the beaches and islands of Italy to studying and working abroad in Australia and the journey of taking her talents back to her home country to help drive the conversation for conservation in Italy and Europe.
