In Part 4 - GUILTY PLACE The Rubber Duck & the Esmeralda in Valparaiso The podcast & animation series 'Music as a Weapon', narrates about musicians that had to flee their country because of their music. We start with Patricio Wang, the composer. He had to leave Chile for the repressive Pinochet regime. And he went into exile in the Netherlands. My podcasts tell about the lives of these musicians who have been persecuted. Through their stories, I want to investigate why repressive regimes are so afraid of music. Igor Stravinsksi once said that music expresses nothing but music. But reality is different, because, music does not seem to be innocent. In Part 4 - Guilty Place How I search for the Esmeralda, the ship that was used as a torture location. How the ‘Rubber Duck” made by the Dutch artist Hofman is present on a ‘guilty place’. How Patricio is allowed to vote for the first time. This was the last episode of 'Music as Weapon' about Chile and Patricio Wang. Created by Arjanne Laan. Soon we will continue with these music podcasts. With episodes on musicians who have had to flee because of their music from the Comores, Mali, Ivory Coast, Syria and other countries.
