1 Amy Schumer & Brianne Howey on the Importance of Female Friendships, Navigating Hollywood's Double Standards, Sharing Their Birth Stories, and MORE 50:05
This week, in what might be the funniest episode yet, Molly and Emese are joined by co-stars Amy Schumer and Brianne Howey. They get candid about motherhood, career evolution, and their new film, Kinda Pregnant —which unexpectedly led to Amy’s latest health discovery. Amy opens up about how public criticism led her to uncover her Cushing syndrome diagnosis, what it’s like to navigate comedy and Hollywood as a mom, and the importance of sharing birth stories without shame. Brianne shares how becoming a mother has shifted her perspective on work, how Ginny & Georgia ’s Georgia Miller compares to real-life parenting, and the power of female friendships in the industry. We also go behind the scenes of their new Netflix film, Kinda Pregnant —how Molly first got the script, why Amy and Brianne were drawn to the project, and what it means for women today. Plus, they reflect on their early career struggles, the moment they knew they “made it,” and how motherhood has reshaped their ambitions. From career highs to personal challenges, this episode is raw, funny, and packed with insights. GeekGirl was incredibly excited to interview Cindy Gallop at FutureFest in London. If you want to feel like you can do anything and take on the world, this podcast delivers a real hit of useful and real advice. Our talk focuses on Cindy's career post-BBH, with the creation of MakeLoveNotPorn and her own struggles and learnings as a sextech founder. Cindy is real, authentic and holds no punches - with a great mix of class and humour. Some amazing lessons in here. You can follow Cindy @cindygallop and @makelovenotporn on Twitter. Cindy Gallop has turned an illustrious advertising career into a lifelong pursuit of changing the world, her way – one daring project after another. After all her success in the agency world, Cindy resigned as Chairman of BBH New York in 2005 in order to do something different. Today she continues to work in branding, marketing and business innovation as a consultant while also operating at the cutting edge of digital and the internet as a tech entrepreneur. She launched MakeLoveNotPorn at TED 2009 with this talk as an attempt to counterpoint the way in which hardcore porn has become default sex education, by encouraging an open healthy dialogue around how real people have sex, and will take this forwards in 2012 as MakeLoveNotPorn TV. In 2011 she published ‘Make Love Not Porn: Technology’s Hardcore Impact on Human Behavior’ as a short TED e-book available on Amazon and iTunes. As a highly action-oriented person, Cindy observed that the single biggest pool of untapped natural resource in this world, is good intentions – both human and corporate – that never translate into action. She launched IfWeRanTheWorld at TED 2010 as the marketing and business platform of the future, to turn human and corporate good intentions into collective action, one microaction at a time, to deliver– you are what you do – and build your Action Graph. Harvard Business School considers IfWeRanTheWorld such a ‘unique and innovative business model’ they wrote it up and taught it as a case study in March 2011 when it was only a year old in beta. Cindy has a significant reputation as a highly compelling and inspirational speaker at events and conferences all around the world. Cindy’s 30 years of experience in brandbuilding, marketing and entrepreneurialism, combined with a razor-sharp analytical mind, wide-ranging business experience, future-forward approach to technology, a compellingly charismatic presence and a uniquely inspirational approach, equip her perfectly to address the theme of leadership and inventing the future across a range of business sectors.…

GeekGirl is still recovering from this awesome conversation with infamous sex blogger, Girl on the Net. Netty dropped in to talk about her career as an anonymous sex blogger and how technology played a key part in her second life. She's grown her blog over the last five years, establishing herself as a well know voice on anything sex, and luckily for GeekGirl, she's also obsessed with sex tech. We discuss everything from anxiety to managing your work load, and writing to dick pics. Maybe ever so slightly NSFW... GOTN in her own words: I’m a girl. I’m on the internet. This is some stuff I do with my life. I’ve been blogging since 2011 – real life sex stories, dirty fantasies, fun rants about gender and sex, and other bits and pieces. My latest book – How A Bad Girl Fell In Love – is out now. I also write commissioned articles for other sites and publications, and I’m happy to do interviews and press as long as I can maintain the veneer of anonymity. Why am I doing this? The most obvious answer is ‘because I’m a pervert’ – I like sex; I like talking about it, reading about it, doing it, watching other people do it, and hearing other people’s stories. This is a place for me to talk about it. Sometimes well, sometimes badly. Mostly with an arrogant tone that’s sure to grate after a while. I’d like to add a teeny tiny extra voice to the horde of women screaming “WE ACTUALLY LIKE THIS.” Women have come pretty far in terms of sexual liberation, but it still seems far more acceptable for guys to moan about how little head they’re getting than for girls to wish they had a dick to suck. Girls can talk about sexual problems, techniques, or desires. But if they go too far and start speaking with the glazed-eyes, drooling lust that we’d expect from men at the end of a webcam, people shut off. If I try to do this in polite company, even if that company happens to be a crowd of guys explaining the filthy things they’d love their girlfriends to do, I’m usually met with disbelief or awkward banter: you don’t really mean that, do you? They think it’s weird. Women can have a healthy appetite for sex, but they can’t be perverts. I’d like to show you that they can. It’s not always pretty, but it is always true – spit in my mouth, pull down my knickers, drench me in vodka and throw me to the boys.…

GeekGirl sat down with Reshma Sohoni, Founding Partner at Seedcamp, an early-stage investor in tech startups, to find out more about the world of Venture Capital, finance and what it takes to be a tech investor. Reshma has always combined technology and business from university to today. Getting degrees in both Engineering and Business (UPenn M&T) meant that from an early age she was cultivating a path that would always bring business and technology together. Early on in her career during the height of the dot-com boom, Reshma worked in M&A and venture capital across B2B Software and Internet services businesses in the US and India. She had a small helping hand in building MakeMyTrip (NASDAQ) in its formative days. Following on from this, Reshma went to INSEAD and earned her MBA, fell in love with Europe and stayed on to work in Commercial and Marketing Strategy at Vodafone. Starting Seedcamp in 2007 was a once in a lifetime opportunity and one that she jumped into with a strong desire to help the European founder realize global success.
