Memory chips, like dynamic random access memory (DRAM) and flash memory, store data in bits and are what allow us to access and store information on our technological devices. And while there are several memory chip manufacturers in the world, there is only one major player based in the United States – Micron.
Micron has been around since 1978, when it was started by a group of chip engineers in a basement in Boise, Idaho. Over the years, the company has grown and become a key player in the memory chip industry, with its stocks rising more than 30% since the start of this year. This growth can be attributed to the hype around generative artificial intelligence (AI) and the increasing demand for memory chips in a wide range of devices.
