It is essentially a contest amongst amateur Tanach experts (the selections are taken from both Prophets and the Writings, in addition to the Torah) who have to answer non-multiple choice questions about quotes from the Hebrew Bible. Their erudition is stunning, and eventually a winner and a runner-up emerge and are crowned.
