Summary: The Lord's Supper is a sacred reminder, a clear proclamation, and a call to consecration as a response to the love of God.
1 Corinthians 11:23–26 (ESV) 23 For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and
said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
25 In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it,
in remembrance of me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
3 Truths from the Lord's Supper:
1) I grow in my faith when I take time to remember God’s love.
1 Corinthians 11:24 (ESV) and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
1 Corinthians 15:57–58 (ESV) 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
2) Remembrance should always lead me to life change.
1 Corinthians 11:28 (ESV) Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup.
3) Life change affirms my proclamation of the gospel.
1 Corinthians 11:26 (ESV) For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
