It's interesting that this particular chapter is really a prelude to the tenth plague. Nothing really happens in this chapter except a lot of prophecy in this in these ten short verses We have no fewer than 15 prophetic predictive events that God says are going to happen. And as I read through this, I thought, man, this chapter is just filled with prophecy. And often we don't think of the Old Testament as having prophecy except related to the first coming of Christ.

Enjoy the rest of the message.

It's exciting to be a part of a growing church, but we can also face growing pains: becoming focused on buildings and activities over relationships. People can visit for weeks and not make a connection. That’s a problem in light of the fact that we have God-given needs for love, acceptance and significance (with God and with one another). Interesting Church Study: 85% of those who joined the average church will not be there a year later. 90% of new members would stay in church if they: Made 4-8 close friendships within the church They belong to a fellowship group They can articulate their faith If we want a New Testament church experience, there isn’t a better place to begin than Acts 2:42-47, which provides insight into the life of the early church! In Hawaii, the term 'ohana means family . The term Ohana Fellowship is another way for describing the Small Group experience. (2009) May God bless you through this message! If you have lived for any length of time, you have had to bury someone you love. You have felt the sting of regret, the sorrow of unfinished business, the paralyzing confusion and the emptiness of loss. You have probably also found your mind flooded with questions about life beyond the grave. In 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 we read the words of Paul as he addressed some of these same concerns in the church at Thessalonica. The very first generation of Christians was beginning to die. Most of these people had believed that Jesus would return during their lifetime. Now, they had questions: Did death mean those who died would miss the Second Coming of Christ and His reign on the earth? Would these people miss all the glory that had been promised? This text not only answers some of those questions – it also contains one of the outstanding eschatological (end times) passages in the New Testament. (2015) May God bless you through this message! Time is one of the most precious resources we have! God created time and gives it to us as stewards. If we don't purposefully order our time, we will find that we have no time to do what is important and will barely have the time to do what is pressing. We need to order our time according to God's purposes and values and unapologetically subject everything that falls outside of this to the back burner. Eph 5:15-17 “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time [making the most of every opportunity - NIV], because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” NKJV Redeem = Exagorazo = “To buy up, to ransom, to rescue from loss or captivity” May God bless you through this message! How do you respond in moments of crisis? Pastor Bob teaches an inspiring message on Jehoshaphat, who although he was an accomplished king, freely admitted he didn't know what to do in crisis, but his eyes were on God and His deliverance. Jehoshaphat: Fourth king of the separate kingdom of Judah The son of Asah: bright lights against the dark paganism that existed during their time. 35 years old when he became king, and he reigned 25 years in Jerusalem "His heart was devoted to the ways of the Lord" 2 Chr. 17:6 He abolished pagan idolatry He sent teachers to the people to teach them God's Word. 2 Chron 17:9 He turned the hearts of the people back to the Lord. Crisis: A massive invasion mounted by the Moabites, and Ammonites, and Meunites (From beyond the sea, meaning the Dead Sea, where Sodom had stood). They were already at En Gedi -- which was only about 38 miles from Jerusalem. We must remember that although Satan's name is infrequently mentioned in the Old Testament, he and his legions had stirred up the hearts of this vast army to bring the work of God in Judah to a bloody conclusion. We can learn important lessons from how Jehoshaphat responded to his country's crisis. (2013) May God bless you through this message! At the beginning of this message, Pastor Bob gave an inspiring update on the radio stations that God gave the church. In the balance of the sermon, Pastor Bob uses Philippians 1:1-11 to encourage and give practical ways we can love and minister to each other. May God bless you through this message! This sermon is part of the Matthew series, but is included here as a companion message in the series on Biblical Reconciliation. This passage is often taught as a stand-alone text and therefore misinterpreted and misapplied. Peter asks Jesus a valid question: What if my brother continues to sin repetitively against me after confessing and repenting of the original sin? How many times should I forgive him? Important points to remember: Jesus is not talking about civil or criminal offenses: He is referring specifically to Christians who, having been biblically confronted, have already confessed and repented of their sin(s). He is referring to Christians who keep committing the same sin, but keep responding biblically to their repeated failure. If a fellow believer has sinned against you, you have an obligation as a citizen of God’s kingdom, to follow the biblical steps of reconciliation - Matthew 18:15-17. If your brother or sister confesses and repents of their sin, you are obligated by God to forgive and restore that person. May God bless you through this message! We all sin and hurt one another unintentionally or otherwise. The thing that should differentiate us as believers is the way we handle our own sin and the sin of others. Biblically, these things should be dealt with in love. But often we find all kinds of excuses for not dealing with the problem directing and in a biblical manner. In this message, Pastor Bob explains the obstacles to reconciliation, biblical motivation for reconciliation and offers practical steps to reconciling. Click for his Sermon notes and Outline. We can learn a lot from some of the darkest days of David’s life. And life, much less ministry, certainly can throw some serious pain our way. And it’s captured for us in 2 Samuel 18:4 when King David says to his military leaders, “ I will do whatever seems best to you.” If you know David’s history, personality and total dependence upon the Lord, then you immediately recognize with me the incongruence of this statement with the rest of his life. May God use this message to inspire you to continue to draw close to Him. (2005) May God bless you through this message!
