"No Weapon" - May 26, 2024 - Pastor Tony Roberts
Today's message emphasized the critical importance of being spiritually armed in our ongoing battle against the forces of darkness. Drawing from 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 and 1 Samuel 13:19-22, the focus was on the necessity of having spiritual weapons, particularly the Word of God, to stand firm against the enemy. The analogy of modern military technology, such as the F-22 Raptor and the AIM-120 missile, was used to illustrate the devastating effectiveness of being well-prepared and well-armed. Just as these advanced weapons systems are meticulously designed and maintained, so too must we be diligent in our spiritual preparation.
The Philistines' strategy of disarming the Israelites by removing blacksmiths from their land was highlighted as a parallel to how Satan seeks to disarm Christians today. Without the Word of God, we are left vulnerable and ineffective in spiritual warfare. The message underscored the importance of personal devotion, Bible study, and prayer as means of sharpening our spiritual weapons. It was stressed that the Word of God is our primary offensive weapon, and we must be skilled in its use to effectively combat the enemy.
The sermon also touched on the gradual erosion of Christian values and practices in society, likening it to the slow but steady disarmament of the Israelites. The importance of church attendance, community, and personal evangelism was emphasized as vital components of maintaining our spiritual readiness. The message concluded with a call to action, urging believers to be vigilant, to know the Word of God, and to share it with others, thereby ensuring that we remain spiritually armed and ready for battle.
