For this season’s final episode, Jamie and Tuan meet virtually – one in Toronto and the other in Hồ Chí Minh City. Tuan addresses a little-known side of Vietnam’s colonial history through the life of his grandfather, a Senegalese former soldier. Old traumas are laid bare in the Vietnamese-Senegalese community, torn between forgetting and love, at the heart of Tuan’s work. Jamie and Tuan talk about how a song can stimulate and reveal memories and about the physical space created by its vibrations and lyrics. “[W]hen we talk about song and vibration, it is bodily [...]. A song is a seed because it carries all this information inside of it.“ Pour le dernier épisode de la saison, Jamie et Tuan se rencontrent virtuellement, depuis Toronto et Hồ Chí Minh-Ville. Jamie and Lindsay meet at the Kahnawà:ke canoe club. With its wealth of memories and symbols, the place nurtures a touching conversation during which Lindsay talks about identity, affiliation, her relationship with the St. Lawrence River, and how performance enables her to reconnect with her surroundings, including through the figure of the sturgeon. Through her ecofeminist approach, she draws close to her community’s ancestral traditions and resolves certain intergenerational wounds. “It's very important for me to tell my people that they're powerful, right? That they're powerful, that they have a voice, that they matter, that I matter, you matter, you know?” Jamie rencontre Lindsay au club de canoë de Kahnawà:ke. Riche en souvenirs et en symboles, l’endroit berce la discussion dans un échange très touchant où Lindsay parle d’identité, d’affiliation, de son rapport avec le fleuve Saint-Laurent et de la manière dont la performance lui permet de reconnecter avec ce qui l’entoure, notamment à travers la figure de l’esturgeon. Rémi rejoint Jamie en studio pour échanger sur sa pratique ainsi que sur ses passions, dont la musique et l’histoire acadiennes. Depuis 2018, l’artiste déploie la présence de Joan Dularge, figure « manquante » de l’histoire du rock politique acadien des années 1960 et 1970, qui lui permet d’affirmer la présence du chiac et de la culture queer en Acadie. Rémi se confie sur son identité et sa relation à sa propre féminité. « Il y a un lien métaphorique entre l’histoire acadienne depuis la Déportation et ma gender expression où, dans ma vie, j’ai dû un peu forcer ma féminité à s'en aller ; elle a erré pendant des années jusqu'à tant que je lui donne la permission de revenir. » Rémi joins Jamie in the studio to chat about their practice and their passions, including Acadian music and history. Since 2018, Rémi has been performing as an alter ego, Joan Dularge, a “missing” figure from the history of Acadian political rock of the 1960s and 1970s, which has enabled them to assert the presence of Chiac and queer culture in Acadia. Rémi talks about their identity and their connection with their own femininity. “There’s a metaphoric link between Acadian history since the Deportation and my gender expression, in that, in my life, I’ve kind of had to force my femininity to go away; it wandered for years until I gave it permission to come back.”…

Jamie meets Séamus in the Biosphere dome, an iconic Montréal site located in the former United States pavilion for the 1967 World’s Fair. The pair discuss the desire to innovate that inspires such major events and look back at the invention of the nylon stocking in 1939, made possible by that era’s scientific advances. Through the figure of Miss Chemistry and borrowing the codes of drag culture, Séamus’s work highlights the colourful aspects of an advertising campaign undertaken by the Du Pont Company during the New York World’s Fair. “I've seen this miraculous substance take infinite shape, Oil transmuted to stockings to parachutes to rope.” (Séamus Gallagher, Mother Memory Cellophane, 2023) Jamie rencontre Séamus dans le dôme de la Biosphère, lieu iconique de Montréal situé dans l’ancien pavillon états-unien de l’Exposition universelle de 1967. Le duo discute des volontés innovantes qui motivent ces grands événements et porte son regard sur l’invention du bas de nylon en 1939, rendue possible par les avancées scientifiques de l'époque. L'œuvre de Séamus révèle, par le biais de la figure de Miss Chemistry et en empruntant les codes de la culture drag, les éléments d’une campagne publicitaire haute en couleur déployée par la compagnie DuPont lors de l’Exposition universelle de New York. « J'ai vu cette substance miraculeuse prendre des formes infinies. Michèle met Jamie at 401 Richmond, an emblematic gathering place in the Toronto cultural scene. She talked about her connection to sports, which enabled her to explore her relationship with masculinity and to foster deep ties with individuals in her community. The work Quantum Choir, resulting from a collaboration with several of them, exposed their sense of vulnerability and fragility. Jamie retrouve Valérie à son atelier dans Chabanel. En passant de ses personnages invisibles aux photographies distorsionnées, ils parlent des œuvres présentées à la Fonderie Darling.
