S8 Ep5 – The Twyford Together Community Awards
Manage episode 358120790 series 3314356
It’s been a big week for awards ceremonies. A day after the Oscars were handed out in Los Angeles, the RG10 Podcast went along to the Twyford Together Community Awards evening. Not quite as glamorous, perhaps, but much more meaningful for those keen to celebrate the individuals, groups and businesses in the local community who “go that extra mile and make a difference to people’s lives”.
Members of the public had several weeks to nominate candidates across 8 award
categories. After judging by a panel representing the local community, the winners – plus others shortlisted as finalists – were invited to Burratta’s at the Royal Oak for the awards evening in mid-March.
A great atmosphere was created, with applause for each finalist as highlights of their
nominations were read out by Twyford Together chairman Rob Yeadon. Wokingham
Borough Councillor and Twyford resident Stephen Conway helped to present the awards. Twyford Parish Council’s Citizen of the Year was announced by its chairman Rohan Abeywardana.
