Research shows that insults register the same in the brain as being physically hit! We are taught as children to not call people names, and yet in our culture negativity, name-calling, and insults appear to be the norm. If our brains hold on to negativity 10x more than positivity, what does that mean for our sense of self and community? Why do our brains tend towards this negativity bias? How do we pull away from this cultural norm when negativity appears to be the way to fit in with society? How do we react to others when they insult us? Welcome to the land of no easy answers...
