Our farming and agricultural sector in regional NSW has been affected by drought. This has created significant impact on farmers at multiple levels including Financial, Social and Emotional wellbeing, agriculture sector viability and reduced employment opportunities in the sector.

Skillslink in collaboration with the Edmond Barton Centre and other community partners have developed and facilitated a series of "Viable Futures workshops" to support our farming community. The objective of the workshops is to bring together farm and agricultural sector business to share case studies of how to create new income streams within their existing farming operations. At a recent workshop, farmers identified the following skills needed in the sector.

Business planning skills, the need to develop social media skills to better communicate with existing and new customers, Marketing, Innovation skills, looking for other business opportunities using existing land resources.
