One of Angel's major motivating factors in both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel is to atone for his crimes that he committed when he did not have a soul. This raises the question of whether Angel should pay for the crimes of Angelus. We discuss the results of Angel's soul being returned by the Romani Gypsies and their reasons for returning it, and whether these reasons were justified. We also discuss the distinction between Angel, Angelus, and Liam, and briefly discuss the nature of the soul in Buffy.
