We turn to Mark 10:17-27, which tells us of the rich man earnestly seeking Jesus, but was told to give up his riches to enter Heaven. We cannot be attached to the things of this world because we need to be able to choose Jesus over the things of this earth. We turned to 1 Peter 2:9, where it reminds us that we are a chosen people called to show others the goodness of God. Despite the confusion and chaos of this world, we can find comfort in knowing our God is in control, even if we don’t understand it all. We then played a special reading of the poem “Meet Me in the Stairwell” by Stacey Randall and voiced by the late Mike Kellogg, in honor of 9/11.
