The War and Treaty’s Michael and Tanya Trotter grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and Washington, DC, respectively, but both have family roots in the South. They also grew up in the musical traditions of their churches – Tanya in the Black Baptist Church and Michael in the Seventh Day Adventist Church – where they learned the power of song to move people. After becoming a father at a very young age, Michael eventually joined the armed forces and served in Iraq and Germany, where he took up songwriting as a way of dealing with his experiences there. Meanwhile Tanya embarked on a singing and acting career after a breakthrough appearance in Sister Act 2 alongside Whoopi Goldberg and Lauryn Hill. Now, after a long and sometimes traumatic journey, Michael and Tanya are married, touring, winning all sorts of awards, and set to release their fifth album together, and their fourth as The War and Treaty. Sid talks to Michael and Tanya about the new record, Plus One , as well as their collaboration with Miranda Lambert, what it was like to record at FAME studios in Muscle Shoals, and how they’re blending country, soul, gospel, and R&B. The Blueprint: Canada’s Conservative Podcast

1 PM and his Environment Minister, Steven Guilbeault, have been prioritizing banning plastic straws over things what would actually help Canada 14:54
In a Federal Court decision, the current government was proven to have violated the Constitution with their unscientific plastics ban as they failed to provide any evidence that this ban would benefit the environment or the health of Canadians. The Prime Minister and his Environment Minister, Steven Guilbeault, have been prioritizing banning plastic straws over things what would actually help Canada’s efforts in maintaining a clean environment for generations to come. Watch and listen as my guest, Branden Leslie , and I take a closer look at this ongoing issue, how our party plans to restore the ability for Canadians to purchase everyday essentials as they wish, and much more.…
Canada could not be less prepared. The crisis at our border and the crisis with our largest trading partner have been exacerbated by issues caused by the current government. Our border has allowed guns, drugs, and organized crime to flow into Canada with ease while Canadians are stuck with a Prime Minister that has shut down our democracy as we face a serious threat to our livelihoods. It’s time to put Canada First and recall Parliament. Watch and listen as my guest, Lianne Rood M.P. , and I discuss the potential impacts on our economy from this conflict, how the government must the problems that have fallen on deaf ears for far too long, and much more.…
The race to replace the Prime Minister is in full swing while Canadians are preparing, yet again, to be disappointed. With the threat of tariffs coming from the United States leaving families, businesses, and employees worried about the cost of living (even more), Canadians are asking themselves, “is this really the best time to have Parliament shut down?” Watch and listen as my guest, Eric Duncan , and I talk about how contenders are trying desperately to change the channel from the current Prime Minister’s record of disaster, why most of the party establishment is backing the “outsider” candidate, Mark Carney, and much more.…

The capital gains tax inclusion rate was increased by 66% as of June 25th, 2024, by the current government, killing investment and scaring away jobs to south of the border. It was a bad idea then. It’s an even worse idea now as Canada faces tariff threats from the United States. Now that the Prime Minister has prorogued Parliament, this tax will not become law before the next election. Yet it is still, lawlessly, being treated as if it were law by CRA. However, there is a solution. Under a Conservative government, we will reverse last year’s capital gains tax hike on jobs, homebuilders, investments, farmers, and small businesses, saving 414,000 jobs and $90 billion in GDP. Watch and listen as my guest, Tracy Gray , and I discuss how the entrepreneurial spirit is being damaged by costly policies, what the numbers have been indicating nationwide, and much more.…
Day by day, the status of potential candidates to replace Trudeau has been changing at a rapid pace, yet Canadians have shown us that they want a change in government and that they’re done with the old tricks and the old attitudes of the Liberal Party. We have yet to find out who exactly the next Prime Minister will be, but one thing is for certain: Carney and Freeland are just like Justin. Watch and listen as my guest, Michael Barrett , and I talk about the events that have taken place over the past couple weeks, the recent Liberal obsession with US talk shows, and much more…
It has been an interesting (and eventful) week on Parliament Hill to say the least. Just hours before Chrystia Freeland was to release a Fall Economic Statement that was expected to crash through the $40 billion economic guardrail, the Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister announced she had lost confidence in the Prime Minister. Now, Canadians are stuck with a $62 billion deficit while the current government is imploding before our very eyes as several Liberals MPs voice their opposition and continue to call for the Prime Minister to step down. Watch and listen as my guest, MP Greg McLean , and I go through the troubling numbers contained in the Fall Economic Statement, the internal drama within the Liberal Party, and much more.…
The Prime Minister has been putting Canada at a significant disadvantage on the world stage. GDP per capita has declined for 6 consecutive quarters while our 3rd quarter GDP slowed sharply to 1% annualized. On top of that, if he goes ahead with his plan to quadruple the carbon tax to 61 cents a litre, it would push our economy into a tailspin. Combining this crippling tax increase with the incoming US President’s threat of a 25% tariff would cause our economy to teeter on the brink of collapse. Businesses in the United States do not have to pay a carbon tax while Canadian businesses have been squeezed after 9 years of this government. Here to talk more about these issues we have Ryan Williams MP Bay of Quinte joining the show to discuss how the Prime Minister continues to drop the ball at the negotiating table, and much more.…

It’s a sad reality that the Government simply refuses to accept Canada’s energy sector as the country’s single largest private sector investor in clean technologies. Canada’s radical Environment Minister, Steven Guilbeault, has announced that he plans to make life even less affordable by attacking Canadian energy workers; placing a so-called “emissions cap” that will kill Canadian jobs, raise the cost of energy, and send billions of dollars to dictators overseas. Leaving them to continue their damaging policies will only suffocate Canada’s energy industry with their arbitrary emissions cap and will devastate our country’s broken economy beyond recognition. Watch and listen as my guest, MP Pat Kelly , and I discuss what this means for Canada’s struggling energy sector, how the Prime Minister continues to gaslight everyday families, and much more.…
The anti-Semitic riots that happened in Montreal over the weekend are a result of the Prime Minister’s damaging decisions. With violent crime increasing by 50% following the attacks on October 7th last year and with hate crimes increasing by over 250% since 2016, change is needed now more than ever before. Watch and listen as my guest, Raquel Dancho , and I take a closer look at the damage caused by the Government’s obsession with identity politics, the concerning rise of crime all throughout Canada, and much more.…
The insiders are in control. Meet Mark Carney. He chairs an investment firm called Brookfield Asset Management. Recently, the Prime Minister appointed Mark to be his “top economic advisor.” Since 2016, over a half-trillion dollars in Canadian investment has gone to the USA and, oddly enough, Brookfield Asset Management announced they are moving their operations to New York City to escape the high taxes and high costs of the current Government. Watch and listen as my guest, MP Michael Barrett , and I take a closer look at what Trudeau’s “advisor” has been up to, how the Randy saga continues to unfold, and much more.…
