When talking to younger artists, I always end up relating to them with my time in a band. Some might say that's an advantage when doing the podcast, but more often than not, I sound like the old Tito in the family party talking about "in my day".

My Tito-ness came out when I talked to Elisha "Icy" Ang, the vocalist of Sepia Times, a Cebu-based alt-pop duo. Early on the interview she mentioned her father was Anot Ang of Cuarenta - who I consider one of the best guitarists of Cebu. So I geeked out on that for a few minutes. But after I got over that, it became clear that Icy has a lot more to contribute to the music scene than just being the kid of a local rock icon. Her band Sepia Times is set to release a lot of good music in the next few months, and if it's anything like their latest single Breakfast, expect to hear more from them in the future.

In this podcast, we talked about what it is like to cry after playing a gig, transitioning between different styles of music, being in a band with your significant other, comparing the music scene to Cebu, and what it means to be signed to a major label.

Enjoy the podcast!

This episode is brought to you by Qube Gallery, a progressive art space in Cebu, Philippines providing network and exhibit opportunities for contemporary artists with whom they work closely with and promote beyond the local reach. For more than five years, the gallery has mounted shows of engaging artworks and has also represented the Visayas region in various international fairs.

Aside from its physical space in Crossroads, Banilad, Cebu City, you can check out their online collection on www.artsy.net/qube-gallery.

This month at Qube Gallery: Myriad by Lean Reboja. He explores the complexities of the human psyche with his 4th solo exhibition, Myriad, opened on September 26, 6:00 PM, at Qube Gallery.

While Lean paints a fictitious world inhabited by beasts and bizarre characters, they are autobiographic and metaphorical accounts of his introspections. Pop surrealism, the core of Lean’s technique, becomes the perfect conduit for Myriad’s intention: to explore the in-betweens of the spectrum – the multiplicities and diverse possibilities engraved within us, choices and contingencies, and inner conflicts and dilemmas, that inevitably shape who we are.
