My guest this week is Dick Delingpole, renowned artist, occasional French soldier, and the founder of the #Third Wednesday and #ThursdayCircle movements.
In his opening salvo, he heads back in time to his Malvern schooldays to give a wedgie to a famous, or perhaps we should say infamous, fellow pupil.
Next, we talk about what it was like to visit East Berlin before the iron curtain fell. Was it how it was portrayed on film and in the media?
Later, we remember the artist Jonathan Myles-Lea, a lifelong friend of Dick's. He imagines what it might have been like to spend a day with him in the lively world of Soho in the days of Francis Bacon.
With his reenactment hat on, Dick imagines what it would be like to step into the shoes of a true British hero at the Battle of Waterloo. And finally, we muse on the fall of the Roman Empire and the parallels with the current state of Western civilisation.
