Welcome to Protecting Your Nest with Dr. Tony Hampton. Navin Hettiarachchi is a comprehensive healer with experience and expertise utilizing a wide array of healthcare disciplines to help people achieve optimal wellness—osteopathic medicine, functional medicine, chiropractic care, and acupuncture to name just a few of these disciplines. He was the director of health, wellness, and performance for the NBA’s Washington Wizards for seventeen years. He holds a B.S. and a Masters in Sports Medicine and has also received numerous certificates. He is also the host of “9 mins to Thrive with Navin,” an inspirational podcast in which Navin invites guests to share uplifting stories and messages with his listeners.

In their discussion in this episode, Dr. Tony and Navin talk about how to tailor a diet to each individual patient’s needs, the importance of eating foods that are highly bio-available and devoid of ingredients that the average person cannot pronounce or recognize, how to use movement to stay pain and injury free, the importance of performing a variety of different movements for exercise, why sleep is the number one supplement for improving your overall well-being, the value of mindfulness, how sauna is a great way to detoxify the body, fasting, the Oura Ring, cryo and hyperbaric chambers, and the joy of seeking to help and share joy with others.

Additionally, Navin shares the story of his journey growing up in Sri Lanka, subsequently moving to the United States, studying sports medicine, and starting his career.
