Greenville (SC)-based Percussion Freelancer, Educator and Performer Layne Mauldin stops by to talk about her job as Educational Engagement Coordinator for DRUM Percussion Studio, teaching at Clemson University and Erskine College (SC), working for SC PAS, and teaching in local schools (03:00), her work with the Catch 22 Duo with Emily Salgado (27:40), the recent PAS Regional Day of Percussion In North Carolina (32:40), growing up in Rock Hill (SC), giving us an outline sketch of her career, getting her first drumset, and her years horseback riding (41:00), going to Clemson University for undergrad and studying with Paul Buyer (01:01:40), going to Ohio State to study with Susan Powell and Joseph Krygier, learning the idea of transferability, and her experiences living in “The North” (01:12:10), dealing with issues of burnout (01:23:15), and settles in for the Random Ass Questions, including portions on female-identifying percussionists, Glennon Doyle, Clemson Football, and various enjoyable book series (01:32:25).

Finishing with a Rave on the 2021 film Petite Maman (02:05:20).
