Radio Educación del Mayab es una alternativa de radio por internet creada por la Secretaría de Educación del Gobierno del estado de Yucatán, en la perspectiva de una radio pública educativa y cultural, que surge como una opción entre el modelo radiofónico comercial que se rige por la lógica de la ganancia y la popularidad, y el modelo cultural de tipo elitista que presenta productos culturales de alta calidad, pero no logra una socialización más amplia de los mismos, ni se constituye en un puente eficaz entre la cultura académica y la mayoría de la población.
