Shubham Maloo, Mazhar Gadiwala and Aniket Gue caught up with one of India's finest talents that badminton has seen in recent times - Shlok Ramchandran. Shlok was ranked World #32 in Men's Doubles in 2018 and decided to take a break from professional badminton in 2020 to pursue his Master's. He represented India in 3 consecutive World Championships (2017, 2018 & 2019). The discussion revolved around - 1. Thoughts on badminton being popular amongst South Indians mainly and the reasons behind that. 2. Infrastructure in comparison to cricket and in general for the sport of badminton. 3. Fallback options in case badminton careers don’t go as planned, typically? 4. What made Shlok take a break and pursue a Master's degree? 5. His favourite athletes and mentors in the sport 6. How / where does a badminton player generally start to grow in the game and eventually make it at the top? 7. Is there a need to be associated with a club or gym to move up the ladder in badminton? Shlok, like us, runs a podcast on IVM Podcasts called "The Millennial Athlete with Tanvi & Shlok" so check his podcast out here - https://www.instagram.com/themillennialathlete/ https://ivmpodcasts.com/the-millennial-athlete Shlok's co-host is a professional badminton player, Tanvi Lad! A big thank you to Shlok and Tanvi for their contribution to our nation's success in sport! You make us proud. We are grateful to Shlok for sharing valuable insights into badminton at every level possible along with a heart-to-heart and deeply insightful conversation. -- Leave your comments on thoughts and suggestions for upcoming episodes.
